    • @DBAY 012 I’m not sold on multiverse stuff. But yea a Communist future would have been way better for Humanity especially Humanity in space. We would have gotten rid of all our obstacles like war, money, borders that type of stuff (since Communism calls for the eradication of money, war and Nations) and we’d probably be closer to being a type 1 civilization by now. Capitalism and the concept of “cost” has only slowed us down and Communism gets rid of those obstacles. Humans are eventually going to HAVE to turn to Communism anyway in the future if we plan on conquering space efficiently having the Socialists winning the Cold War just gets us there quicker.

      HandleHandle7 päivää sitten
    • Well, theoretically, if you believe in the Multiverse, there are countless universe ‘copies’, if you will. So, the Russians had to have won the Cold War in at LEAST one of them, right? 🧐 Then again, it’s also possible that they lost in every single one. 😂 🤷🏽‍♂️

  • Khrushchev should be seen as a hero for this as well. Although a tyrant, he did have the sense not to end the world during his time in office. He gave Kennedy a way to save face and still get what he really wanted, the removal of missiles from Turkey. He took the L to save the world. I'm American BTW and was a kid during the height of the cold war. It was intensely scary. North Korea or Iran can hurt us with their arsenals, the powers we were dealing with then could utterly destroy us in nuclear hellfire.

    Scott's VideosScott's Videos10 päivää sitten
    • Khrushchev was Ikranuan, and saw firsthand in WW2 what would have happened. He was in Stalingrad too, as a CP member, during that fighting. In 1962 USSR still had not recovered from the war.

    Chad MowerChad Mower10 päivää sitten
    • There are. Instead of a conventional warhead, an atomic bomb was carried instead. They are carried by Soviet/Russian boats to destroy US carrier task groups. We had small yield atomic depth bombs to use on their SSBNs, as well as our own atom bomb armed torpedoes.

Only problem is we really hate when someone calls us on our bluffs and will destroy your country and or world because of it. The world may litterally be gone one day because some leader will tell a us leader. I bet you won’t.

  • The world almost ended. There's also another incident where soviet officer refusal to launch a ballistic middle on America also prevent a war, possibly nuclear war. One of the Soviets missile defense systems detected an American ballistic missile being fired and heading towards the Soviets, but the US didn't fire any, it was a system malfunction on the Soviet's side. The Soviet officer was supposed to fire back as protocol or something if I'm not mistaken, but he believe something was wrong, probably system malfunction and hence didn't launch any missiles. At the end he found out it was really system malfunction. This soviet officer also avoided a nuclear war as well.

    dallas yapdallas yap11 päivää sitten
    • Stanislav Petrov. He was the duty officer in 1983 when missiles were detected inbound from the USA. He contacted support crews working satellite radar units, they reported no missiles on their scopes. He reported it up as a malfunction and prayed he was right. He was reprimanded by command for a log book error. He is literally the man who saved the world in 1983.

  • PBS had a hour long special about him in their “Secrets of the Dead” series. “Secrets of the Dead: The Man who saved the world”. When they describe the horrible conditions, meant for arctic waters, not hot waters, in that submarine (a diesel sub because of the recent near nuclear melt in a certain nuclear submarine). The cool part of the sub was a humid 110 where the “special torpedo” was kept! It’s amazing he kept his wits about him, unlike the political officer and the other guy. All 3 keys were inserted, turned, and they just had to push the “button”. He said NYET and surfaced. He was aboard the Nuclear Sub when the crisis occurred. He knew what devastation Radiation had on the human body. He later died from cancer thought to be caused due to exposure. Horribly. He was shamed for “surrendering” to the Americans by the Russian Government. He basically died disgraced soon after and his bravery was frowned upon by the Russian Government. It was not decades later during a “Cold War Reunion” in the late 90’s that a Russian aboard the sub let an American Official know just how close they were to launching the “Special Torpedo”. The American almost went into shock and told the Russian, if they had launched it, we would of retaliated with our own Nuke! That Russian Captain is an unsung hero of the Cold War. He, and a Russian Radar operator (thought he saw Nuclear Missile on Radar, but suspected it was a meteorite. Told military to “stand down” based on this hunch. He was right, it was a meteorite. His gut feeling stopped a Nuclear retaliatory launch). A “Special Torpedo” IS a Nuclear Torpedo FYI😳 My Grandpa retired after the Cuban Missile Crisis a Brigadier General (he also served directly in the Pacific during WW2).He was directly responsible for guarding a nuclear button. I realized just how close he came to having to push it that day. RIP Grandpa. RIP Varsili. I can never remember you name (slight autism), but I will NEVER forget your actions. You are a true hero for all humanity. As an American, I wish I could shake your hand.
